Feature: Designing characters and creatures + more
It is time to feature more tutorials and undiscovered art! :la: As usual, the feature will be divided. The first part includes tutorials on how to design characters and creatures, and the second part is a selection of artwork I’ve discovered recently with fewer than 50 favourites. Previous features are linked at the bottom of the journal, and I post a new feature each month on my profile, usually around the 15th :dummy: We'll start off with some guides on how to design human/humanoid characters. First, @Dinloss has an excellent walk-through of how to design the character themselves - their body, their hair, pose, and much more. However, the clothes and accessories of a character are also essential to their looks - which is covered more in-depth by @HANIICU and @Deamond-89, with one discussing functionality and style and the other cloth detailing, including how to draw those: Animal characters are a different beast, however =P Luckily, we have experts on the topic -
Multi-deviation submissions to Groups have returned! Many Group admins have requested the ability to submit multiple deviations simultaneously, a feature that was possible in the previous version of Groups. To submit multiple deviations, simply click Submit > Add Existing Deviation and then select the deviations you’d like to submit. Keep sharing your feedback about the new Groups, and thanks to the Group admins who requested this feature!

YCH Showcase - April 2024
YCH artists don't just create art; they ignite your imagination with boundless possibilities. With each stroke of their pencil or brush, they sketch a scene, a moment, a pose that invites you to envision your character within it. It's not merely a commission; it's a collaborative journey where you and the artist co-author an unforgettable experience for your character. Welcome to this monthly feature where we spotlight the exceptional talents of YCH artists, their art, and the inspirations that fuel their creations. We invite you to immerse yourself in the imaginative worlds they've crafted for characters like yours. And, who knows? You might just discover a space for your own character to shine within their art! @Mintarin Hello! My name is Mintarin, nice to meet you! I'm an artist from a small, cold northern town who loves to use a lot of bright colors in my work
Daily Challenges launched in September, giving artists an art prompt each day to fuel artistic ideas and build good creative habits. Over 200 challenges and hundreds of thousands of creations later, now’s your chance to suggest ideas for future challenges! How to Suggest a Daily Challenge Share a tag in the comments that you think should be a daily challenge! If your suggestion gets added to the calendar, a DeviantArt team member will let you know! You can also browse the comments and give a like or badge to suggestions you love! Tips for Challenge Ideas Come up with a challenge open to most genres. (#Landscape is easier for everyone to do than #LandscapePainting, for example.) If you have a genre-specific challenge, try to make sure it’s accessible for everyone. (#Haiku is a good example because it’s easy enough for everyone to understand and try!) Abstract concepts like #love, #retro, or #peace can allow artists to get creative with what they make. Tags that can have multiple
Seniority Announcement: April 2024 by team, journal
Seniority Announcement: April 2024
Seniority has been a cornerstone of DeviantArt since its early years, and is an award given to those who have made their mark on the community. These outstanding deviants have been recognized for their level of interaction, helpfulness with others, kindness, sincerity, and many other notable traits. These deviants can be recognized by the medal icon that appears next to their username, and in 23 years, fewer than 2,000 deviants have received Seniority. The following deviants, having shown a kindred spirit that has led to continued positive community interaction and involvement, are the most recent recipients of Seniority. Please join us in congratulating them! @Grim-Castlaire Though @Grim-Castlaire joined DeviantArt just three years ago, their impact is hard to overstate. An active member of the adoptables community, they’re always supportive of other artists and frequently suggest works to be featured as Daily Deviations. @Foolish-Hearts A prolific fan artist

Celebrating Deviousness - April 2024
The Deviousness Award is given to one deviant each month in recognition of their exemplary contributions to DeviantArt and its community and has been a long-standing tradition since DeviantArt’s early years. @TheFulkrum is the recipient of April 2024’s Deviousness Award, so please join us in congratulating him! @TheFulkrum has been an integral part of the DeviantArt community for over 15 years, focusing on the connections between artists and bringing people together over care and shared interests. From countless art features to running and participating in a wide array of groups, he’s put over a decade of effort into helping artists create, improve, and shine, and his efforts show in how highly other deviants speak of him. It is an honor to recognize @TheFulkrum as the recipient of the Deviousness Award for April 2024! Hello! My initials are AG. As a young boy, all that mattered were my bedroom walls and the radio. That’s where I doodled the inside of my spaceship and listened to
Hello everyone! (: The theme of the month is Cherry Blossoms - loved by many people! On this occasion, I would like to share the tutorial I prepared for you! The whole thing was done in Photoshop but I think you can easily repeat it in other programs and even with traditional media. Follow the steps and create your own artwork! Post your drawing on DeviantArt with the tag #CherryBlossomChallenge and get a Profile badge! You can upload your deviation using this link: https://www.deviantart.com/submit/?tags=cherryblossomchallenge - required tag will be added automatically! (: Let's start! I. Draw the first flower. Start by drawing a small circle with 5 lines extending from it. Now make a sketch of the petals of our flower. On the left side of the picture I show you how to draw it easily step by step. At this stage, it is worth focusing on the general arrangement of each element and not going into detail. Once the sketch is ready, we can create a new layer and start to make a
